 Welcome to 6th or 7th grade Language Arts! I'd like to share a few things about myself. This is my 4th year at SSA and my 33rd year of teaching. I earned my B.A.Ed. at ASU and my M.Ed. at UA. I taught in Catalina Foothills School District for 13 years before coming here and taught on the Native American reservation in Sells for 15 years. In addition, I have been an Administrative Assistant at Green Fields Country Day School. I've taught reading, English, and social studies in grades 6-11. I am a certified Reading Specialist and I am highly qualified in 5-9 language arts and 7-12 history.
I've lived in Arizona for almost all of my life. My husband and I have been married for 37 years; he is a retired Juvenile Probation Officer. We love to brag about our twenty-something children. Our daughter is working on her Ph.D. in Slavic Studies at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and our son, who graduated from NAU, works for Wells Fargo here in Tucson. I am addicted to travel and one of my major life goals is to see all the parts of the U.S. which I haven't explored.
My philosophy is to develop students' literacy, social, and school success skills in an interactive environment. I go the extra mile to help students achieve. I look forward to learning a lot with the students this year and thank you for loaning me your child each day!
